I have made a claim against first plus (using a claims company another whole story in its self) and First Lus have accepted that my PPI was mis-sold and have offered a settlement of just over £21k which I am happy with. The sting in the tail is that they want both of our signatures to collect. Me and my ex- wife have no contact and I do not know where she. I have tried through a family member to contact her but she has moved on in her life and won't make contact. I'm now faced with the fact that money is owed but can get even my share. Can't they split the refund and hold her share should she ever claim. If we had defaulted on the loan they would come after us as individuals to ensure they get their money even if it was just from one of us.

Re: First Plus joint PPI
I told the claims company from day one that I did not know where my ex- wife was and they said no problem so I went ahead. We are now 9 months down the road and I seem to have done most of the work. I obtained the account information after they failed to get it (they said they were being bounced between Barclays and First Plus), I gave them the reasons as to why I thought I had a valid claim and First Plus are sending me all of the paperwork which I then have to forward to the claims company. The only time they have been quick in contacting me is when they thought First Plus had paid out and I received an invoice In the post and even that was wrong by over £1100 In their favour. They say hey are looking into getting First Plus to split the payment but I spoke directly to first plus and they clearly stated that they do not split payments and they have to be made jointly or not at all.

Re: First Plus joint PPI
As you may or may not know the FOS (Financial Ombudsman Service) are dealing with lots of PPI claims. I would give them a ring and see if they can help you with this situation as they must have dealt with it themselves.
Here is the contact number

Re: First Plus joint PPI
Did the financial ombudsman help to split the payment between as you know longer and cannot trace your ex-wife. I'm in a similar position but we were not married. First Plus are quite a difficult company to deal with. Many thanks
