  • Barclays PPI Loan reclaim

    Hi,
Got quick reply from Barclays 4 days after I submitted PPI consumer questionaire form included with my loan account number plus the policy number of the payment protection but they said they have been unable to locate a policy in my name. As a results they have been unable to establish if I have had a PPI policy with them & therefore my complaints has not been upheld.

I'm very disappointed that they have sent the letter to my old previous address without the loan account reference number plus they have not attached the Financial Ombudsman service questionnaire with enclosed pre paid envelope !!!

So I need some advice to write them back that I do have the copy of the PPI Premium Agreement and how long will take for them to reply back to this letter? Please.

    Thank you very much John

    Hi John

So sorry to hear that, but do not give in quite yet.

I would write to them again and ask them to look further into your case.

Give them as many other details as you can and if you've any paperwork in relation to the account at all which proves you were paying PPI, enclose "copies" of them.

How long ago was it you taken this out?

If you've no paperwork, have you tried requesting for a Subject Access Request (SAR) where they MUST comply and provide you with information of all the accounts taken out wiht them.
If you also banked with them, you can apply your banking account number on the SAR letter and they should enclose details of every account you taken out with them, however, just to be sure they do send details of the loan, I would also add the loan account number as well as the bank account number to the same letter.
Maybe you should also enclose details of old addresses as well.

One SAR is sufficient with the one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order.

"Please could anyone here provide John with the SAR letter please, or the link" to it, thank you.

Thank you for a quick reply, the loan was taken out in 2004 but I did ask for a copy of PPI agreement, (Credit Agreement regulated by the Consumer Credit act 1974) in 2008 from Ireland, so not sure if it is good enough for them?

Yes I have sent off the SAR 2 weeks ago. Would it be better to wait till for the SAR arrived first ?

      Many thanks John

        Hi

I feel a SAR would be a help to your case if all else fails.

The CCA should be enough proof of the PPI, so if you have this, I would send a further letter, enclose a copy of the CCA, ask them to reconsider.

Their rights are they have 8 weeks to give a decision, so if you've received a response and they not upheld in your favour, you can write to them to ask them to reconsider and enclose copies of any evidence you have and anything further you want to add.
Hopefully the 2nd decision will not take long, but you can always try chasing them up within say about 14 to 21 days if you heard nothing by then.

The final decision is the letter that should enclose the FOS details/leaflet, and you can keep going on at them until this happens.

Hope this helps, please keep us posted, fingers crossed.
