    Hi there

    Yes you can.

Do you still have the account numbers?

I was successful on reclaims from accounts taken out from the mid 90's, this was via Lloyds TSB bank.

I would give them a shot with your reasons.

If you require help from here, please ask anytime.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I had all the loan account numbers provided by Barclays Bank in a SAR plus Wagon Finance Ltd loan but dont have the original paperwork.

Would I suggest another SAR for those loans and send the PPI preliminary letter at the same time or wait til the SAR comes back?

And Is PPI preliminary template letter from this site is suitable for before 2005?

Sorry for so many questions !!

      Many thanks
      John

        Hi John

I believe a SAR can be useful, but whether or not they still hold all data beyond the last 6 years or not I don't know, but maybe worth a try.

You may find that if they do no longer hold the information as such from the start of the loans etc, they may just come back instead with an offer they think reasonable, so if this is the case, that is better than not getting any offer at all, but they should at least go back the last 6 years and anything prior to that may be an offer if no info held.
Hopefully though they will go all the way back to when you first taken out the accounts.

You can still make a reclaim whilst awaiting for a SAR. By having the account numbers help.

And with them being Barclays, they may send you a reclaim/complaint questionnaire, the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) issued these for this purpose to use to make a reclaim against the business that mis sold, keep copies and if you're not happy with the final decision you can take your complaint - with a copy of the reclaim complaint questionnaire to the FOS, this saves on time later on.

If you wish to send the questionnaire now, download and print below, or contact the bank to send you one in the post, or even the FOS, make them aware you want to make a complaint to the bank/business and require a reclaim questionnaire, and they will send you the appropriate one.
(If you do have a printer though you can do this as stated above here)....

I am unaaware if a template prior to 2005, but personally the reclaim questionnaire is appropriate for all, and with them being a bank, I assume they would have been regulated FSA prior to that GISC (General Insurance Standards Council).

SAR details below link, one SAR is suffient if all accounts are with the same bank, if you bank with them, use your banking account number, and they should send all data they still hold on every account taken out with them.

Hope this helps, and ask away for help anytime, good luck.

Re: PPI on old loans/Credit cards

          Hi John

Also just to suggest that reclaim the loan ppi separate to that of the credit card ppi.

However, if you have the same reasons for all loan ppi, you can use the same form if you wish, but otherwise separately.
Same for Credit Card PPI, if mis sold for the same reasons, the same for for all credit card is fine, again otherwise separately.

So for example, if all the same reason for loan ppi - one form is sufficient, enclose all account numbers of the loan accounts on that form.

And all credit card account numbers on another form away from the loan ppi reclaiming.

          Hope that helps.
