I wonder if anyone might know who or what business might have underwritten my ppi with colonial finance before they were acquired by Chatham

    Re: underwriters of ppi

    Hi

I will try checking this out, but otherwise the lender should provide these details for you.

If say the broker is no longer active, the lender if you had a separate lender would be the main on of holding your details of the account.

How long ago did you take out the policy? (year)?

What I did was write to my lender, the broker had dissolved, and the lender provided me with the Payment Policy Insurance details/booklet in the post by 14 days on request.
You don't always receive these with copies of your loan documents when you receive these after taking out the account, and are normally requested for, for example, for making a claim for unemployment/sickness etc.
The underwriter, which is also the insurer's details are on the details of the PPI booklet, and you would pursue these if you've tried other avenues first, such as with the broker, or the ones who sold you the account.

If dissolved, normally the financial ombudsman service (FOS) will suggest the underwriter avenue, and investigate what liabilities these had with the broker/lender when the account was sold to you, and its another avenue of trying to get your money back to you - if all else fails.

I have however, found the website to the company you mention below, are these the correct company of who sold you the account?

I take if you have already tried to making a complaint with the above stated broker/lender?
