I made a claim for a refund of miss-sold PPI Sept 2010, in June 2011 I had to prompt the company dealing with the claim to approach the Financial Ombudsman, after a number of requests for an update on my claim and receiving no replies I notified the company that I did not want them to represent me any longer Sept 19th 2011 1yr later. I have since instructed another company to deal with my claim around the same date 19th sept 2011, I have since received a letter 26th sept 2011 from the original company stating that my lender was offering me a goodwill payment gesture but I only have 14 days to decline, but it will take the lender longer to process and come up with a figure, the letter from the FOS is dated 16th sept, the letter from the company is dated 22nd sept, I received all the info 26th sept leaving me 4 days to respond in my view very sloppy. As I have informed the original company not to carry on with the claim, am I behold to the outcome, can I let things run their course with the original claim and see if im happy with the offer, can I have two companies dealing with the claim, as the lender is willing to make an offer can I dispense with both companies and finalise a settlement myself.

    Hi beanie12 and welcome,
The first company you instructed are now coming up with a settlement offer, but they have not told you what the offer is? and gave you 14 days to say yes or no?
What does the letter from the FOS state?
    Who was the loan company?
As for cancelling your agreement with them I would read their T&Cs as you may have to pay something to them after all this time.
