PPI claim against Black Horse Finance - Where do I start??

I've been away from this reclaiming lark for quite a while now and feel as though i've lost touch a little.

I want to seek all you experts advice as to where I need to start with regards to claiming PPI. I don't really know where to begin, I have no dates of loans or account numbers or anything. All I know is that I originally took out a loan through Black Horse Finances quite some time ago, probably about 10 years ago. The loan would only be approved on the grounds that I took out the PPI, with as you know has the interest added on top of it.......I'm pretty confident this deemed as mis-sold?

Over the years I ended up taking several loans through Black Horse, one paying off the previous plus giving me extra capital in hand. I don't think I actually ever completed the term of any of the loans as i merely took out another to pay off the last, each one subsequntly having PPI added to it.

As I stated, I dont have a clue with regards to dates and most definately don't have any paperwork or copies of agreements......hence why I don't know where to start.

I'm pretty sure I need to do a SAR but with no account numbers is this any good??

I've read many threads in the PPI forum but still feel more confused than ever as to where I should start.......think my brains shriveled up during my time away from here....lol.

Any help and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Yes I have read this, along with many other threads. From memory the PPI I was sold was the upfront type, added straight on top of the initial loan.

I guess I need to do the SAR but just thinking they'll fob me off as I don't have any account/policy numbers!!

Would this be the case or will they still be able to provide me all the details I require with just name address etc??

Also, will this give me the details of the insurance provider?

Hi there

You can try tracking down loan account numbers by checking your bank statements.

For example, if your still with the same bank and bank online - this should allow you to go back to about 2002, so depending on how old your loan account is.
The loan account number is the one shown next to the loan monthly repayment.

Or another option, again if your still with the same bank where you repaid your loan payments, call in and ask the branch manager to check through the computer systems for you.

Yes I'm still with the same bank and I've spent a couple of hours this evening scouring boxes in the loft.....

......and guess what? I have all my bank statements from when I originally opened the account back in 96.

I have had a quick nose through them and it does show all the credits for the loans, 3 in total, plus all the payments I made on the loans, so I do have dates of when the loans took place etc but there are no ref numbers in relation to the loan agreements!!

I will post up all the details tomorrow if that helps?

Hi Guys and Gals,

Right, as I stated last night I was able to find old bank statements which in turn did give me some dates and figures as to when I took the loans out, unfortunately there are no reference or agreement numbers alongside any of the payments or the credits.

Details from bank statements are:-

Initial loan was taken out in November 2001

Bank credited with £1000 on 15/11/2001 – this will not include the PPI

I then made 8 monthly payments by DD of £67.94

I then re-financed in August 2002

Bank credited with £688.48 on 12/08/2002 – again this will note include the PPI

From here I only made 1 months payment by DD of £77.99

I re-financed again in December 2002

Bank credited with £2979.28 on 03/12/2002 – once again this will not include the PPI

I then made 23 monthly payments by DD of £201.07

I then settled the balance when I took out my mortgage, not totally sure what the settlement figure was though.

I'm guessing having this info will be of some help.....

Phone black horse on 0844 824 8888 and they will give account numbers to you

I have phoned them and they don't have anything on their system. They have said that they will more than likely be in their archieves and that i will need to write in with a covering letter to request these details.

Should I just do a SAR??

I might as well request everything together as the address they have given me is the Customer Accounting address in Cardiff.
