I thought welcome were dealing with pre 2005, fscs post 2005...

As the FSCS was set up by the Government can you make a complaint to the Government Ombudsman ?

The offsetting against loans... anyone heard anything about solicitors kicking up a fuss about this yet..?

The payments are staying the same and they reckon the ppi is still on loan after its being removed... getting it for free I was told today..? confused com

The response from the FSCS on this appeared un-moving.

The COMP rules and FSMA both appear to give the FSCS broad brush to do what they consider fair.

As you say the Compensation is a mess because the payments don't reduce. The client is left with the option to keep the PPI or cancel it and receive the disproportionate rebate that usually applies in such circumstances

Just a very frustrating position all round.

They paid a few out now but really messing people about, need copy of ID, need this, need that etc etc and saying they have sent forms when they haven't been rec'd after being requested two or three times.

If you have a claim in with FSCS suggest you take the persons name if you speak to them or ask for a manager if they are messing you around.

They are playing the same game as most banks where they are hoping that some people give up or cant be bothered to send the next little bit of paper they now seem to need...

So frustrating.. Dont give up..!!!

my cousin said that they had had approx 9000 in offers from them today (works for cmc) but they are either a) in complete mess and dont know what they are doing or b) making it as awkward as possible for people to get claims through.. eg not sending out forms or just not even looking at them..


according to him, If the claim is sent to welcome, and the only loans are post 2005 when welcome pass them over to FSCS they are not even looking at complaint and shreading the paperwork.. unreal...

I think I stating back in MARCH time that the FSCS don't really realise what they are getting them selves ... Must be right mess

I have now made 16 calls to welcome/fscs over the last nine weeks just to try and get a form sent out, the last 3 of these calls were to senior management.
Finally told on the 10th that form had been posted the day before, but it still hasnt arrived.
I can understand them trying to limit how many are dealt with each week or whatever but this is beyond a joke now

has anyone actually received any money from them yet?

Hello new member here. Can anyone help. I have 2 accounts that I didn't realise until now I had taken out with brokers before 2005 who are both out of business. I went to a claims company but they have said no go. The details are:

Southern Pacific deal taken through a broker in 2003.
Welcome deal taken through a broker in 2004.

I contacted the FSCS but they said accounts were taken out too early for them to help.

It is correct that where the sale was pre 14th Jan 2005 and the seller is bust the FSCS cannot assist.

On claims such as these the FOS would suggest they may be able to investigate vs the Insurance Underwriter but we've had cases at the FOS for over 2 years and they are still investigating whether or not they have any jurisdiction in these matters.

16 times Sounds like the record to me... Some people have had the money Ive heard but no great landslide of cases.... I know they originally said they were dealing with 30,000 cases per month but it is really bad business practice to say yes we will send them if they never intend to or cant honour what they say.

Tell them you want to raise an official complaint when you next call them, take persons name and also ref number of compliant...

Think its who ever shouts loudest to be honest...

Its not just the PPI refund being paid to clear WF arrears and loans, we were told yesterday that ours would be paid to MKDP/MKRR (one or the other) who bought our loan of Welcome over a year ago. They dont make that clear. If I had known I would not have bothered, would have gone down the court route. Too late now.

Well finally, after 21 phonecalls and 13 weeks of shouting at them
I received an fscs compensation form from welcome yesterday. filled it in and posted it straight away, all seemed easy enough despite what the CMCs tell you.

I wonder what welcomes next excuse/stall tactic will be lol.

What exactly have the CMCs told you about the Welcome Finance FSCS Application for Compensation?

I would assume nothing since CMC's don't want those cases.

The one i was dealing with told me that claiming was a very complicated process and thats why I would be better off going through them than doing it alone.

'I would assume nothing' why would i have said that if they had told me nothing ?
