One of the MSE members and contributors who disagreed with the sale pointed out that the value of the site has been created by the voluntary contributors to it. Their voluntary efforts have all gone to line Martin Lewis's pockets, and IMO they themselves have effectively been ripped off by the gamekeeper turned poacher.

I suspect that at least one other consumer action site will be going the same way shortly.

LOL, Marc - you seem to have made yourselves conspicuous by your absence from the CSC's whingeing. I'd keep quiet if I were you, guv'nor, and get on with doing what you do best - digging pits for OTHERS to fall into.

LOL - Another rattle hits the pavement. To suggest that the likes of MSE & Which? (along with peeps like us) are siding with the banks is deffo a loss of grip on reality. Surely, us guys and MSE/Which? are about the ONLY guys left that the banks haven't (yet ?) brought under their control ? !!!

If the CSC was any use to anybody other than "The Claims Industry" itself, then there wouldn't be any rogue CMC's. As things are, it often seems to the likes of Joe Public that 99% of "The Claims Industry" are scammers. For whatever funding they receive, the CSC seem to be doing sod all in the interests of those who have already been scammed by the banks. They seem to use an identical modus operandi to the CMC's !!!

"Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

    UNDAY 17 MAY 2009
Dispatches searched through every Honours List the Government has issued since 1997 and found that a total of 81 honours were handed out to those working in banking in finance.

    The key facts:

    - 81 honours given to individuals working in banking and finance
    - 36 of these were awarded to bankers
    - 19 knighthoods, MBEs, CBEs or OBEs awarded by the government for "services to banking"
    - 62 honours were given for services to the finance industry
    - Of those rewarded, 16 worked for banks which later failed
    - 9 honours were awarded to RBS staff
    - Standard Chartered, HSBC, HBOS and Barclays each received 4 honours
    - Lloyds TSB were awarded 3 honours
The Government seemed happy to shower honours on bankers and financiers when the economy was booming. So will they be withdrawing the honours now it's gone bust? The Cabinet Office has told Dispatches that it is currently looking to see whether there's a case for stripping Sir Fred Goodwin of his knighthood.
Fred, was of course stripped of his knighthood, much later.

Please, take the time to read what Mervyn King had to say:

sorry for the late response, but what percentage of all honours are those given to banking? Is it a disproportionally high amount, compared to say, industry, or technology?

The above is of course not the full article nor, the full story...

Many general consumers who have valid complaints re: mis-sold PPI are still waiting to be contacted!

The Banks whinge and whine about the so called bogus claims.
But to date, fail to deal with genuine claims!

He's a TV and radio personality known as the Money Saving Expert as well as a journalist in his own right. And as such everything he does has the potential to increase traffic to his site. But that doesn't devalue the work he does in acting in the best interests of consumers.

I see that Which have had 40k letters downloaded. Add this to the 2 million or so from Moneysavingexpert this means only another 17 odd million to go then guys. Good luck with that one.

There again, one could be forgiven that Lewis is maybe using this as a platform to get more people to use his site to download the letters, thereby increasing the traffic to his site etc. Or maybe I am just cynical!

I suggest that if anyone wants to do their own claim, use this site as it’s the only genuine site without any back handed (driving traffic) deals going on!
