Re: Wends SIL V Blackhorse PPI

SOZ, matey. Ame will confirm this. I just do NOT do CHAT or SHOUT. It gets up my orifice, TBH !!!! Me and Mrs-K have used ear-plugs for ages, now. Problem solved - I now put mine in as soon as I get home !!!!! Bliss.....

Mind you, it still doesn't cure 'breaking wind under cover.' I still get a knee in the groin for doing that !!!

You should be able to enter the data required into the cells at the top of the spready. The 'locked' cells are pre-programmed to do stuff for you. Maybe that's why you thought it was a tough jobbie - you actually DON'T need to think. Just enter the data, and the spready does the rest.

LOL - I can tell. You're just NOT the kinda gal that can hand control over that easily, are you ? !!! That's why you're here, innit ?

    Rrrrrrrrrrrrespect.......!!!

Aha. Finally looked in to Shout. I'd have replied earlier if you'd posted here !!!

If you don't have MS Office, then use OpenOffice. It's a perfectly safe and well-respected freebie that mimics MS Office. I don't have the link to hand, but Google OpenOffice and download the suite, Wendy. It's good.

Well thanks for that, Bill. I've now filed the spready in and tbh it makes no sense. If I leave out the balance owing, which I'm not exactly sure of, (I think about 14k) I get Figure 1 below
If i put in the 14k balance, I get figure 2 below. Nether of which make any sense to me.

FWIW I didn't think it was a tough jobbie at all, I'm not particularly stupid I am perfectly capable of filling in a few figures on a spreadsheet. But obviously not so capable of understanding what it throws up. Maybe it's sleep deprivation???

Well done, Wendy. I thought if I threw it down as a challenge, you'd take it up - you're that kinda gal, I reckon.

It was summat stoopid, as usual. Not sleep deprivation - more like dream interpretation. The spready couldn't understand the dates, as they were in DD.MM.YYYY format - and it needs DD/MM/YYYY. So, I've attached Fig.2 here, and this time, it managed to cough up some readable results !!!

It calculates £59.12 as the actual PPI content of each payment - as near as dammit to your own calculation. This comes to £2601.28 over the 44 payments covered - which concurs with your own calculation. £381.49 in SI is added to that, making a total refundable amount of £2982.77.

The re-scheduling of the remaining payments needs looking at more closely, and I'll post up a result for that ASAP.

For now, though, the spreadsheet supports your calculations, but adds the £381.49 (8% SI) to that.

Thanks Bill I should mention that I'm on a win bonus for this - she should be able to afford a couple of decent bottles of wine for out of that amount lol.

This is all really encouraging, Wendy and co. as I am about to take on Black Horse on behalf of my OH. I am particularly impressed by the speadie, Bill, which will save me much brainache!

I will start my own thread today and would be really grateful for any pearls of wisdom.

                Kind regards, MG

Well, she sent the acceptance back on 12th September, over 8 weeks ago now. I have no idea what is happening, although I did warn her about the JR and that it might stuff things up. She was supposed to be contacting them about 3 or 4 weeks ago, but whether she has or not I have no idea.

Re: Wends SIL V Blackhorse PPI

Update. SIL has, she finally tells me, had a letter from Black Horse stating that they have applied the refund to arrears, and reducing the monthly payments by approx £74 per month. Now this is the first I've heard about any arrears, surely if there was that much arrears she'd have been in Court by now?? She then said there had been a few payments missed over the years. I've told her to demand a breakdown of the calculations, especially in view of the fact she now has to pay 90 payments of £160 per month which is almost as much as she borrowed in the first place!

To be honest I smell a rat here - in fact I smell two rats - one of them being Black Horse and you can draw your own conclusions as to the identity of the other one...........if she's that worried about coughing up for a bottle of wine for me she only had to say.....

Quite right too - to request for a detailed breakdown of the calculations!

Hope this sorts out for your SIL, good luck.
