  • HUGE SUCCESS PPI V's Barclays

Hi - I just wanted to share a great success story with you all in relation to 2 successful claims to encourage others to keep plugging away it is worth it!!!

A friend of mine took out 2 Barclayloans, 1 approx 10 years ago at £15000 and another approx 5 years ago at £3000, both with PPI.

At the time she was advised by the personal banker that taking out PPI would guarantee the success of her application and did not go through her statment of demands and needs correctly, if they had they would have realised that she had sufficent cover with another supplier towards accident, sickness, redundancy etc....

Unbeknown to her at the time this was a classic case of mis-selling (a swear word in the world of Barclays) and continued to repay the loans as agreed. Ten years on and after fantastic advice from Tools and the gang at Legal Beagles on the 27th January 2010 we proceeded with a Premliminary letter to Barclays, including loan agreement numbers and outlining our complaint. Within two weeks we had a response saying that they were looking into this matter, however her records could not be found - DELAY TACTIC!! we then followed with a Letter before action giving them a deadline of 2 weeks to receive a response.... by the 24th February the £3000 loan PPI refund had been settled at £378.

Barclays also wrote to say that they required further time to investigate the £15000 loan but would respond by the 31st March...... today (23rd March) my friend has received a letter to advise that within 24 hours a settlement of £5707 would be paid directly into her account!!!

Please do not give up at the first hurdle, use the fantastic advice of the legal beagles they are here to help.... I appreciate that not all cases turn into a success but if you don't try you'll never know!!

Congratulations! It just goes to show how the banks will do anything to avoid paying out when they are in the wrong. Very unethical.. Well done for sticking at it!
        Thanks!
