  • Barclaycard PPI Refund Question

Hi, looking for some advice re.p.p.i. For about five years i had a credit card from Littlewoods Personal Finance which is run by or for Barclycard throughout this time i was paying P.P.I,while browsing the web i came across a page from a firm called Portal Claims saying i may have been miss sold the P.P.I i was paying,i e-mailed them, they sent out forms which i filled in and posted away. while i had been waiting on the outcome of the claim i was made redundant and as a result fell behind with my credit card payments so that i ended up owing Littlewoods Finance around £2,ooo. Just recently i was coming to an agreement with L.P.F to pay the arrears at £30 a month when i recieved a letter from Portal Claims stating that Barclaycard had agreed my P.P.I had been miss sold and that they had agreed to refund me £1508 which would be sent to me by cheque, from this refund i was to pay Portal Claims their 25% fee. Three days ago i recieved a bill from portal claims for their fee and informing me that Barclaycard instead of sending me a cheque for the refund had kept the refund as part of my credit card bill. I have had no communication from Brclaycard informing that they intended to do this and would like to know if Barclaycard were within their rights to use the refund in this way without consulting or even imforming of their intentions. Iwould be gratefull if anyone could tell me if they have acted properly in this matter.
