Re: Advice PPI / GE Money

Disgracefull actions from this company, Im fuming.

Have you sent any mis-sell letters to them ?.
Have you sent a DPA/SAR to them ?.
We can make the 6 year stat period fit here cuz you only became aware of the PPI mis-sell after your O/Hs death didnt you ?.

Below is my list of mis-sell reasons, let me know which apply to you:
    • The PPI was added without my knowledge.
    • I was never informed that this PPI is only optional.
    • At the time of sale and purchase, I believed that the PPI was compulsory.
    • I was never informed that if PPI was required I could purchase it elsewhere.
    • I was pressurised into buying the Payment Protection Insurance.
    • I was informed that I would have a better chance of getting the loan if PPI was included.
    • I was led to believe that our application would have been rejected had I not included the PPI.
    • It was certainly not in my interest to purchase this particular policy.
    • I was not asked whether I already had any existing (insurance / employer cover/benefits) that would cover the repayments.
    • It was never explained that there are exclusions within the policy clauses that could seriously affect any potential claim I made on this insurance.
    • It was never explained that there are restrictions for the (unemployed / self-employed / retired / certain age group) of which I fall into.
    • This PPI was unsuitable for me because at the purchase date I was, and continue to be, in receipt of benefits for (name of benefit).
    • At the time of purchasing the PPI, I was not made aware of any exclusions which related to pre-existing or on-going medical problems.
    • The PPI policy exclusions were never properly explained, so I was unable to make an informed decision as to whether this insurance was required or not.
    • I paid in advance for the PPI but it was never explained that there are other methods of payment available.
    • It was never explained that by adding the PPI premium to the loan amount, it would incur a huge amount of interest over the fixed period repayment term.[/font]
    • It was not explained that the PPI would not run for the full term of my loan.
    • I consolidated my loan and the PPI was automatically increased.

      Yes only became aware of existence of the PPI (& mis-sell) after spouse`s death. Can honestly say that from your list the 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th (s/employed), 14th, 15th, 16th, & 17th apply.

So far, still have to fill in PPI claim form (which only covers 1st 5 yrs of course & a possible settlement of only a few months repayments at best)
but this involves statements from GP, and various Doctors at local hospitals - now going back 2 or 3 yrs.

      Cheers !!!

Northgeorge as you have stated that for all those reasons you have listed above, the PPI was mis sold to you, then you should be claiming through the FOS for a total refund plus interest.
If you would prefer you can go the court route.
As you stated earlier they are 'wearing you down' and this they will do if they can, they don't want to cough up.

Due to Xmas break this may take some time.

And GE loan term completed this month & their final statement shows £3400 owing in fees & charges, as predicted !!
