  • Consumer Claims

Just had a call from a very nice young lady who told me she could help me reclaim my PPI if I already had not done so.
I said I had never had PPI and she said 'Oh I would have done, but would not have known I had it because it would be on my paperwork as interest'.
I advised her that she should not be cold calling as MOJ states, she said she was not cold calling but merely trying to help me.
Number was withheld so can not really find the companies details.

Well it appears than can cold call according to the MOJ if at any time you have ticked or not ticked as the case may be that you want to receive promotional stuff. This is what they told me when I complained about a certain CMC a few years back that although I was ex directory they could still phone me if at anytime I had given permission for this. I am always as you know very careful about these thing and have never takentaken PPI because I am self employed. The only time I gave details over the phone to a company for a loan my data was then stolen amonst many thousands of other people who also gave details over the phone a company that was owned or still is by MBNA and this is where I believe mine and many others that were called by this particular CMC our telephone numbers have been sold on now many times I will however put it on my ask list for tomorrow at our meeting at the MOJ for a definative reason on how these call centres are able to call without knowing which CMC they are working for and their authorisation number as this should be made available as soon as a call is made and it should be clear who they are.

I told the MOJ that I am ex directory and they said I should get the telephone preference service to block these calls.

      Thanks Enaid for highlighting this.

Just my 2 cents These calls can and are a pain in the butt but did you know that you can earn a good living from these unwanted calls legally.

Had a call about an hour ago off one of these muppets, they asked for my wife so I asked them to hold the line and buried the phone under the arm of the chair and that's where it still is
