    Hi BeenConned

    Welcome to Legal Beagles.

    I have responded on the other thread.

    You must deal with your cancellation as soon as possible and keep every thing in writing and send by special or recorded delivery and email your cancelation.
    They will not cancel until the pack has been sent back so if you have not received the pack let them know immediately.

      Hi Beenconned, no company in the claims business should ask for this kind of money upfront, i used a company who got my claim through in 8 weeks. the upfront fee was only £10. can you tell the card company to cancellthe transaction. good luck

          Please do NOT wait 7 days to might or might not receive an email from them. Send then an URGENT email and or a letter NOW as I suggested to you in my earlier post. Deal with everything by POST or EMAIL they could deny having spoken to you and then your 14 days will have past.

          Also, you could ask your credit card company to recall that payment rather than just reduce your limit.

                  Re: claims companys

                  Just thought I would post this little snippet here that 200 claims management companys have now been closed down by the Ministry of Justice for breaking the rules.
                  http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...ad.php?t=17653

                  also, £1675 is a lot of money to lose.

                    Re: claims companys

                    As has already been stated its a golden rule that unless you can record ALL telephone calls you MUST NOT contact them by phone & this advice applies to all such companies & transaction. If they won't stop don't respond but (in writing) tell them that your phone is 'out of order'

                      jeez £1675 upfront that is a lot of money for something you can do yourself with the backup of sites like this

                      Make sure you make a complaint to the MoJ and phone the cc co straight away as others have said you have distance selling regs on your side so use them

                      PF
                      If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

                          It is on one of my other threads, I will find it in the morning and post up.

                          I can tell you now that they will not normally refund you without the return of their pack, but if you have not received the pack you cannot return it. But hopefully you will be able to get the money refunded through the Credit Card. Did they say why it takes 2 weeks?

                              Distance sellings Regs http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2.../contents/made

                              Exempt distance contracts

                              The Regulations do not apply to all distance contracts and there are a number of exemptions from some or all of the provisions of the Regulations.
                              The Regulations do not apply to:
                              • most contracts for the sale or transfer of land or for building on land, except short rental agreements;
                              • contracts for the supply of financial services;
                              • contracts concluded by means of an automated vending machine or automated commercial premises (e.g. pictures taken from an automated photo booth);
                              • contracts by telephone through the use of public pay-phones; or
                              • contracts concluded at auction (although OFT guidance on the Regulations suggests that it must be a genuine auction in order to qualify for the exemption – "buy it now" slots on internet auction sites will not be exempt as such sales are not concluded by a process of auction).
                              Separate regulations control the sale of financial services at a distance. See OUT-LAW's guide to The Distance Marketing of Consumer Financial Services.
