  • Bank Smart

    Hi

youve probably had this before, but we’re now getting attacked by the rouge Bank Smart!!
We originally got contacted by them in 2016 for charges related to premium bank accounts with Barclays, they said all
we needed to do was sign the letter and send it off then in 6/8 weeks they’d have a cheque (no win no fee) to which we signed.

like others we got bombarded with letters, telephone calls daily! Then it all stopped after I spoke to them in late 2019 and said we couldn’t claim for anything like ppi as it had already been done!

Now we’ve received a email and letter from a debt management company stating we need to pay £342.88, we’ve never received any invoice from bank smart!

So I contacted the DCC to be given a email for bank smart, I emailed
them and got a poor response similar to those before stating the claim was with Franklyn Hughes Ltd trading as Ascend Finance. With Ts & Cs below, (which I have and they’re very vague). I’ve never heard of this company only ever dealt with bank smart, also the signed copies that we sent back in 2016 were to bank smart and the copies they sent me via email yesterday are on ascend finance headed letter (which looks like it’s been photoshopped).

I replied to them asking what were we supposed to do with this claim as we’ve not had any service or invoice, to which they replied pay the claim and close the case or sign the letter of authority to allow them to effectively attack the bank and they sent this at 0349 (am), when there normal working hours are 0900-1300.

so now I’m at a loss of what we do?

    thank

Ultimately you'd need to make a formal complaint to them so that you could then go to the Ombudsman if Bank Smart reject it.

But first you'd need to ask Bank Smart for the invoice and importantly a breakdown of the individual charges that make up the invoice amount, so you know what to complain about. Get that and come back to us and we can advise.

Is it MIL Collections that is chasing you for the money?
