  • Avant credit issues

    Hi all,
i had a loan from avant credit which has been running for a year and a half now (4 year loan)
on setting up the account, the payment dates were at the end of each month.
I called to ask if I could push the date of payment back by 2 or 3 days to coincide with my payday and this was approved over the phone and all (I thought) was fine.

From that moment every month I got an email saying I had defaulted because I had missed my payment and had been charged a £12 missed payment fee. Each month I called and they said they would manually remove the fee as it had been placed in error as their computers hadn’t recognised the change in payment date and so therefore was seeing my payments as being late.

Each time i phoned avant I was greeted with ‘you are in arrears with the account and you need to make payment’

They also ‘escalated’ the issue to their senior team to sort out, but never did.

To cut a long story short (and almost a year and half on) the same thing happens every month.
I ended up going to the financial ombudsman as I was getting nowhere.

The ombudsman found in my favour and ordered avant to sort out
    the problem.

They told the ombudsman that all fees had been refunded and that there was an error with their system and that they were working on a solution.

I got so fed up with the situation that I called to pay the loan off in full 2 days ago.
I asked for a settlement figure and asked that all charges were removed.

They said they they had been, so I paid it off and closed the account.

I also asked for a statement of the account so I could be sure, which I received today.

The statement (as far as I can see) shows £72 in fees still on there and £188 in interest for 2 missed payments???

i did not miss a single one... I just paid each one 2 or 3 days later than the initial agreement.

Would someone be be able to look over the statement and see if indeed I have been charged these fees as I cannot get my head around it.

    Thanks
