Hi was just wondering if i'm now in the final stages of claiming in hardship with Abbey. I had my claim on hold for 12 months and then in august this year i fell into financial hardship so i began my claim again in hardship on the 07 Aug 2009 i sent evidence of my debt management plan along with a litigation letter i received re my mortgage arrears (my priority debt).
By the 21st sep i received a letter offering a good will gesture of £345.00 towards charges amounting to £2379.00 plus £544.38 (interest) which i then responded with a letter acknowledeging receipt of the money without prejudice but also explaining it falls way short of the £2250 i would be prepared to accept. I then received a letter dated 13 oct 2009 asking for proof to be sent again which i have duly obliged but worryingly advising me to go to the F.O.S I have duly obliged with the proof and explained that unless i get a speedy response i will be persuing my claim down the F.O.S. route. I can't wait too much longer as i am still looking for a way of finding funds to pay off my £2000 mortgage arrears.

Any ideas would be much appreciated. Is this just another delaying tactic or am i a step closer to a full and final refund????

Are your mortgage arrears your only arrears?
The best think do is to send a very detailed letter outlining why you are in financial hardship and giving a very detailed account with proof of your arrears and debts. Did they get you till fill out an IE?

As you have been doing this for sometime I would as they say and also make a complaint to FOS, be detailed include copies of all communication you have had to date with Abbey.

You are going to have to lower your expectations, I have not seen any bank pay out in full on charges under hardship they always give a percentage (between 50-75%)

As for your Mortgage - Have you been keeping in contact and discussing this with your mortgage company? How many months does the arrears equate to? Are you currently making any repayments on the arrears? mentioned a litigation letter- are they going for repossession?

Have you reclaimed credit card charges?
