  • Walker Love - Council Tax Debt

Hello I went through a period of mental health issues and tbh just didn't pay my council tax during that time since sorting my self out and finding work I have been making payments to all my accounts. Walker love recently wrote to me and advising they had been giving some court order and the next step would be to take money from my wages I've been making small monthly payments to them as that's all I could afford and that had been fine from November 2015 to January 2017 suddenly they want more I've sent them a copy of my incoming and outgoing and they are trying to tell me that the £54 I pay a month for my bus pass has to stop and I need to pay them, it's not a nescesity so what do I do to? It's the cheapest way to travel to and from work in Edinburgh do I fight this or just roll over and quit my job? Ps I have no intention of quiting my job and don't drive I couldn't afford to in all honesty.

Re: Walker Love - Council Tax Debt

The situation in Scotland for enforcement of non-payment of Council Tax is a lot different to that we have to endure in England. You are going to have to speak to Walker Love to sort this out, if however you have a case worker or similar it may be best to involve them and ask they speak on your behalf. It may also be worth speaking to the Council to advise them of your position as they may have an alternative procedure if you are still classed as being vulnerable.
