Hi everyone I'm having difficulty in getting back any of my bank charges from the last 6yrs totalling 1680, I'm disabled and this has caused so much heartache . I spoke to nat west yesterday and was told the charges were not going to be refunded as they were taken within the banks terms and conditions. Can someone advise me if I'm wasting my time with these morons in the complaints dept.

Re: Bank charges help
Hi there ...
Have you put your complaint in writing? I would start with that, stating that the charges are unfair because you are disabled and experiencing hardship as a result of these charges.
Add that unless your complaint is looked at realistically, you will refer the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman for an independent review of your situation. I would specify the figure of £1680 and show how you arrived at that figure.
I am assuming that these charges have arisen as a result of things such as exceeding overdraft limits, having insufficient funds to service direct debits/standing orders and possibly bounced cheques?

ive spoke to two complaints officers about all these charges to be told that the Supreme Court ruled the charges are fair even though the bank as caused such hardship so I'm going to have to fight them to get some of it back. They won't let me get a word in edge ways, on the phone the told me I'd been charged 1680 yet on the letter they put £452 !!!
