HI,just been reading a threat regarding DWP collections from debts from over 20 years ago.DWP contacted me about an overpayment from 1996.I rejected the claim and asked for proof, they sent me a letter with dates of overpayment of which i could not even remember never mind contest. They asked for some sort of offer to repay and i just ignored them thinking they could not do anything after 6 years.Well they can go back as far as they want.they have now slapped an attachment of earnings on me at a rate of 11%.they do not go away and in my case i wish i had offered them a plan to repay,it would have been accepted at a lot less than 11%.they go for an attachment as a last resort.
