  • Mystery payment made to old debt

I was contacted recently by Robinson way regarding an old MBNA debt. I contacted them and told them I had no recollection of the debt and and debt I had would be over 6 years old, thus statute barred.

They have sent me a statement that shows a court fee of £5 in 2012, followed by a £2.50 payment.

I have no recollection of this odd one off payment, but being on the statement does make the debt appear to be not statute barred.

    Any advice?

Send them a letter asking how, where, when and what method of payment was used .... Their trying it on if you ask me if you've made no contact regards the debt, not unusual for these folk to make up mystery payments.

This doesn't surprise me coming from Robinson Way/Hoist making things up as they go!

I suggest you write to Najib Nathoo their CEO and demand an immediate explanation a I cannot think what " court fee " this could possibly be.

Looking back at some old records from elsewhere some of the tactics employed are the same as those used by another debt purchaser where Mr Nathoo was CEO.
