  • overdraft turned debt collection

My natwest current account was frauded so the bank cancelled thousands of accounts in 2013. They said they would issue me a new card. Never happened. I spent 4 weeks chasing it up in branch and on the phone. It was stressful as i moved to Europe for 18 months at this time. I then had to communicate with their customer service team, to issue me a new card ready when i intermittently fly back in. I have all the written comms (where i'm ignored). They finally issue me a new card to a holding address. Result! Finally! When I then request the overdraft charges be reversed they immediately cancel my account and pass it to debt recovery. Immediately. The day I got the letter informing me of this was the same day of the deadline natwest were giving to pay my entire overdraft and bugger off basically. I can prove that the notice given was same day.
I have written to the ombudsman and she said natwest are within their rights to boot me. I still want my account and I want this debt recovery notice off my record. I'll stick to the facts, and leave my anger out of it but Natwest put me in this mess and never sought to resolve it, how can they do that.
