To cut a long story short, a friend received a court fine for £500 and got the payment down to £200, he then missed a payment and was told they were going to set up an attachment of earnings, next he receives a letter from collectica stating he owed them the balance in the meantime he moved house and rang them to set up an arrangement and was told someone had been to his property (this being the old address) and he now owed them £600 in full and would not accept a payment arrangement and if it was not paid a warrant would be out for his arrest. Any advice would be great also they dont have his new address

Hi,
Your friend should have informed the court and the bailiff of the move before moving charges will be constantly added.
I'm afraid he wont get any sympathy from the court if he continues to withhold his address.
He should either contact the court office and or the bailiff asap, if he fails to do so the arrest is inevitable.
He will need I expect to fill out an income/expenditure statement if he asks for time to pay.

Hes contacted the court office they arent interested, he contacted the bailiffs and theyve demanded full paymentComment

Not much he can do I'm afraid Fred, the bailiff charges/Collectica are laid down had he informed the court of an address change then he might have had a chance, warrants are issued quite quickly to and depending on police or warrant officers available time he could be arrested in the evening and detained to appear before the next available magistrates court, where someone has not been in contact with the court/bailiff the warrant may be " without bail".Originally posted by Fredag8 View Post

Thanks nem, just wasn't sure as they said they were going to set up an attachment if earnings so he was waiting for that but i understand what you're saying about informing them of his addressComment

I'm by no means an expert in this and have no idea whether the advice given above is the definitive position or not. However, if they had agreed with your friend to set up an AoE - provided that they could access his employment details - it seems highly improper, to me anyway, to then send in Enforcement Agents.
There are members on here that specialise in this area (@Ploddertom eg?) who might perhaps be able to clarify.
