We received a letter from the solictor dated 7th May, stating that they thank us for the letter... They are going to contact their client and no further action will be taken until they have provided a response to the letter.

Hello Cliff,

They are testing your resolve I think!
I would write in return saying that if he wishes to continue you
will require disclosure of the alleged "contemporaneous " notes
within 7 days of the issue of a claim under CPR 31.14.
Also add the your notes at the time show no agreement for their
client to progress to completion of plans.
This guy and the sols seem to me to be just parasites hoping for
a quick few quid.

What should my notes entail?
Also should I mention anything about company name as I noticed and explained earlier in the thread or is this irrelevant? Thank you

Yes add that Company as an "aside" at the end of the letter.
I presume you took notes or even just " jottings" regarding
discussions you had with him?

I'm going a step backwards here, but the following may be something to raise:

The Letter of Claim that you attached refers to "paragraph 4 of the 49th update of the Practice Direction of the Civil Procedure Rules 1998". The correct reference should be paragraph 6 of the Practice Direction on Pre-Action Conduct of the 80th update to the Civil Procedure Rules 1998.

The fact they got the reference so wrong goes to the overriding objective and treating parties on an equal footing (i.e. they are treating unrepresented opponents unfairly).

We are aware of the shortfalls and mistakes of this particular law firm and its
actions in other similar cases involving " architectural " services and their LBA's
for £1.99 + Vat.

In reply to your email received on 14^th May 2015, if your client wishes to continue, I will require disclosure of alleged ‘contemporaneous’ notes within 7 days of the issue of the claim under CPR 31.14.
I would like to draw to your attention a note made by myself in my diary that the week beginning 6^th January 2015, I was ‘awaiting a quote’ for his services. Please find a copy attached. The quote was never received from your client.
Aside from this, may I also point out that during correspondence with your client, all of his letter and email signatures state ‘Joe Bloggs Goods Limited’ with no company registration number printed. This includes an invoice your client later sent in February, after several telephone conversations with your client discussing that I did not endorse his services,. I see the client you are representing is ‘Joe Bloggs Goods & Services Limited’ (company Reg number ), I have had no correspondence with this company.

No news is normally good news. Generally they would have to contact the client to detail your reply & obtain instructions before they write any reply or a further letter to you. Your letter asks for disclosure of notes also so they may be asking for those from the client too.
