Hi there hope you can help, my mom who is 79 has got herself into a mess with Kays Catalogue and has arrears of £1140 and outstanding balance of £4000 ish, she has her own house but only has state pension coming in, what do I need to do, shall I take over dealing with this for her? Do I speak to the catalogue or the debt recovery who initially were just chasing the arrears. I have heard its difficult to get the catalogue to freeze the account so shall I just wait for the whole debt to be transferred to NDR? Many thanks, Carole

Re: Catalogue debt and arrears
Hi Caj, Just giving this a little bump for you. :bump2:I am sure there will be someone along soon to give you sound advice. In the meantime try to get all your paperwork together including the original contract if you can find it. Also scribble out a rough income and expenditure form – I tried to find a template on here but someone may know where you can download one.

Re: Catalogue debt and arrears
Hi Welcome,
You will need your mums written authorisation to deal with this.
How long has the account been open?
When did [payments cease?
NDR are difficult to deal with so if you can deal with this directly it may be easier.
1. Do an income & expenditure statement.
2. Write (don't phone) Kays and explain the situation, mums age etc., and enclose the I& E statement and a suggested payment amount that is affordable and will be made if Kays freeze interest and charges.
nem
More advice when start date and last payment date of account are known.
Are Kays actively pursuing the debt?
