  • Nationwide CCA but no credit. huh?

Hello, I've received a letter from a debt collection agency (MKDP) which is regarding a debt to Nationwide building society. They have sent me a statement related to the Consumer Credit Act.

This is the first I've heard of this - can anyone offer any advice on the best way to respond to this?

I did bank with Nationwide many years ago (most likely more than 6) but it was a basic bank account and when I left them I owed them nothing. I certainly had no credit with them so I'm not sure why I have received a something governed by the CCA?

    Thanks in advance.

Just to update this (in case anyone stumbles across it). I sent MKDP a 'prove it' letter and they responded with statements that I did not recognise from between 2003-2006. I then sent them a statute barred letter and they dropped the matter. I then contacted Nationwide to get to the bottom of things and it turned out that the account was fraudulent and Nationwide closed it and marked it as such. As it was from 2003 it had no affect on my credit file.
