  • Incorrect Debt Collection Financial institutions Letters to wrong Address

What is the best, most efficient way to stop incorrect Debt collection letters and finacial Institutions to your address.

This has been going on for 2-3 Years, despite replying each time, the People they are seeking, are unknown to us, have never lived at that address, verifed by Owner, are unknown to Owner, the Peoples names are East European, and Asian, whilst we are English People. We don't have acquantacies from East Europe or China.

Each letter is sent back, return to sender, Person unknown.

Their was even a letter for an ID card.

It looks like these lettera from Debt collection agencies are Computer generated.

What is the most efficient way, to get the Agencies, financial institutions to chase these People to their address, not our address.

We and the Owner have written to some of them, whilst some have stopped, others just seem to come from different Debt collectors.

Is their an Agency/body who can help, to stop such mail to our address?

It must be costing them money each time, they send out such a letter, and pay for the return of such a letter.

    Thank you very much.

Do you know which companies the letters are coming from? It might be worth your while signing a Statutory Declaration at your local courts (costs approx £5) confirming that the people named do not (and have not) lived at the address they are writing to.

If the letters are addressed to a 'named person' then I cannot see Royal Mail being able to do much about it - although I have found a lot of companies stop sending things after receiving a months worth of takeaway leaflets etc... (along with the letter they sent) as a 'return to sender' package :tinysmile_twink_t2:

Thank you Kati, very much, that is very helpful, especially the takeaway leaflets .

Yes the companies are various Debt collection companies, they seem to change, (the Debt collection companies every few months), each company looking for the same individuals all the time, also high street Banks.
Great to know about the Statutory Declaration.
Would it be any benefit also, asking the Debt collection companies for a copy of their complaints procedure, and trying to follow that?

      Thanks a mill

Problem with most complaint procedures is more often than not they are " in house" how can that be unbiased ( in there favour)?
Saying that lots of hassle bullying etc from one certain DCA after nearly three years they have eventually admitted they do not have the correct paper work for an alleged debt and returned it to the OC
Cannot see the OC giving up though , this was the second one they have tried it on with so awaiting development's

Have you checked your credit file. See if any of the people have been linked to your address...

Both equifax and expiren allow you to do dpa credit cecks at $2 each.

We have been here ten years so I doubt it!
Only thing on credit report was a Barclay Card which is now settled, not checked it since, have the proof and sent it to them but the alleged OC wasn't Barclays in any event.
On going dispute with Welcome who have tried the two DCAs and I have proff that they do not hold details on the account in question in my name.
Before LB I let them bully me into paying them then learned about CCAs so when the DCA approached me send them "prove it" letters!

Thank You, Good luck with that, as you say, never give up, staying silent is not an option. You have great patients, after 3 years, it took them that long to admit incorrect People/address, great victory, very well done, it must have been a hard slog, but great justice was done in the end.
