Got an email today from moriarty law acting on behalf of JC international acquisition LLC for a scottish power debt from just under 6 years ago,do l send moriarty the single letter via email or should l do everthing via post?also do l need to send the 3 letters to JC International acquisition LLC or just the single letter to moriarty law for now?
This debt is 6 years old in August this year.
Also l have just checked my credit report and it showing the balance from scottish power as £0 and a default was put on my account on 27th August 2020
Do l actually need to do anything with this or can l still be chased for it?

    Hi Fluffychick

    Welcxome to LB

You've clearly got 'contradictory' information at hand i.e. from JC international / Moriarty Law saying you owe monies and then Scottish Power, a Default added to your Credit File with £0 balance saying you don't.

If that is correct, I would lodge a formal complaint with Scottish Power in writing, state that no monies is owed to them as evidence by the £0 balance. Also explain that
you are 'minded' to lodge a complaint with the ICO as the information on your Credit File is 'incorrect', you have a Default but, with no money owing. Attach a copy of the Scottish Power entry from your Credit File. Make sure you take screenshots of your Credit File i.e. Scottish Power account. Make sure you get Proof of Postage.

Send Moriarty Law the following letter, attach a copy of the Scottish Power entry from your Credit File.
Make sure you get Proof of Postage.

Good afternoon ECHAT11 and thanks for the warm welcome,l have been really worried since receiving an email from moriarty law last night that l found in my 'junk' inbox. I have not heard anything at all from JC international before this email l got from moriarty law yesterday.
I had a default placed on my credit file by scottish power on 27/08/2020 and showed as £0.
also said under the default that they have sold the debt to another company.
l then got this email yesterday from moriarty law yesterday saying that they had been instructed by JC international to recover the debt and are offering me a 40% discount if l pay in in full before a certain sldate and then 25% discount if l pay after that.
They have also stated that if l dont respond within 14 days then they will be taking me to court.
Do you think they are chasing the debt now because its 6 years old this year?
l have attached a copy of the emailed letter l have got from moriarty law.
Thanks again for helping me .

You've got account no's etc still visible, might be an idea to remove them.
If they say you owe £X,XXX, the balance shouldn't £0. It should still show a negative balance.
They might be chasing the debt now because of that. You could just send the following, without
the attachment and see what they do / send.

Send Moriarty Law the following letter.
Make sure you get Proof of Postage.
