    Was any money left over after the sale and after the care home was paid? If so, what happened to that money?

    I did also ask whether you are your late mother's executor.

      I was the executor and the money left over from the sale of the house was to pay care fees for my mum for the next three years. Anything left over after that, I kept

        Your responsibility as executor is to pay your mother's debts, to the extent that there is money in the estate to pay them. You need to look at the agreement that your mother signed.

        I cannot see that the Limitation Act 1980 will help you.

          I can only pay debts that I am aware of. I was not aware of any other debts or they would have been paid. I did not sign any agreements with the LA. I have not been contacted AT ANY TIME by the LA. Exactly how am I supposed to pay something I know nothing about?

            It is not as simple as that. As executor, did you place statutory Trustee Act advertisements?
