  • Old debt resurfacing

I had an old credit card debt from 10 years ago and
it’s resurfaced under a new management company. I never heard anything about it for over 5 years now they are asking for repayments, are the permitted to get another CCJ if it’s the same outstanding debt?

My understanding is if the original Company gained a CCJ it is still in force until the debt has been cleared. And if so the debt is still enforceable, but after all this time they will have to explain why the delay.

When did they get the CCJ?

They would have to go to Court to start the legal process again, but would need to state a good reason why they have left it this late.

So not so easy for them. What you could do is send them a 'Without Prejudice' a low offer. See what they say.
