Am I now debt free?

Hi I moved to Spain from the UK 5 years ago, I sold everything I owned including my house, I owed debt collection companies around £45k and also another £50k with various credit card and loan companies....I stopped paying all of these and had no contact with any of them for 18 months before I left so a total of 6.5 years.
my question is this as I have heard nothing for all that time will all these now be statute barred? I know its possible I could have been made bankrupt but I m never coming back so no problem there!
please no 'you should have paid before you left' answers please.

They are Statute Barred, providing no payments or no written admission of debt over the last 6 years.

The only caveat is that they may of obtained CCJ's on the debts through the Courts meaning that the debt can still be chased via the Courts.

Thanks for the reply, no contact has been made for 6.5 years....as nearly all these debts are under 5k would it be worth thier while trying to find me in Spain to issue proceedings? Like I said in my OP I will never return to the UK as there's nothing there for me...ive cut all ties

DCA's are odd, but I'm not sure they work on a 'maybe we'll find him', I'd think they'd want a bit more certainty then that. So it might be 'uneconomical' for them to do so.
