    Lending money to a friend that lives in Spain

    Hi,

    A friend in Spain needs some money and giving her a loan. My question is, how could it be done so I would not have any problem with the HRMC when she starts repaying it?

    Money paid to you as repayment of a debt is not taxable - I suggest you put the terms of the loan in writing.

      I don't wish to advise you. But if you loan any money write it off as a gift. 99% is never repaid. Trust me I know from experence.
