  • clean credit file, now what?

    hi all,

after getting myself into debt with cards and loans over a number of years up to 2009 and the obvious of being chased by dca's and a couple of ccj's the day has finally come when the final debt has dropped off my credit file.

my debts amounted to around 52k, most just dropped off without really being chased which i was surprised at but obviously happy at, 2 debts ended up as a ccj one for £650 from my business (card machine terminal) which i settled after the 28 days and the other was a barclay card for around 7k which i did not settle.

up to 2008 i had a very good credit file as you can imagine otherwise i would not been able to get the credit i did and all payments were made generally on time, then the crash came and it hit me hard.

i have not tried to get any form of credit for 8 years at least now, not even a mobile on credit, and i am mostly happy with this.

there are only 2 things i would like to get now in the forms of credit,
    1. a mortgage as i am sick of paying rent and having nothing to show from it.
    2. a credit card, as i find it hard to rent a car when i am over sea's without one and also using it very wisely it will help build my rating to help get the best mortgage i can.

i have lived without credit no problem for years and i want that feeling of freedom to continue.

i sold the house where the debts were amassed back in 2011 and have been renting ever since.

other than hmrc no financial institution or dca know my current address and i not on the electoral roll there either.

my current bank is registered at my parents address, where i was registered living many years ago.

basically i have been hiding from dca's for years.

from my understanding all debts are now statue barred as they are way past the 6 years, other than the unpaid ccj of 7k which is now just over the 6 yr mark and has dropped of my file.

i have done my time on the naughty step and would like to get my life back without hiding.

i am worried that if i transfer my banking over to my new address the ccj of 7k will find me and continue to be a problem in my life.

do i just leave my current banking address at my parents and open a new bank account at my new address in the hope this would create a new credit file thus get away once and for all from the any dca even though i am legally clear of any debt.

or do i just transfer my current bank to my new address and stop worrying.

will my bad credit history, even though now clear, still haunt me.

my credit file is clear, no debts, no ccj's, nothing at all with a score of 760. what is the best way for me to go.

    regards
