  • default or arrears ???

Hi , so we had a problem with a default being added to our credit file. however after a few letters and telephone conversations - the default was removed ! Next are the company who aded default .... however now had an email saying basically we can have no default and arrears - default ???? THis is what they sent :

"Just to confirm, if the default is removed, it means your account was on a long term repayment plan and this finished in June 2017. The arrears will show on your credit file for 6 years from that date, and will be removed from your credit file in June 2023.

If you leave the default as it is, then it will be removed from your credit file in November 2019.

I would suggest you take independent financial advice before you make a decision, as we cannot advise you how to proceed." ...... We are now wondering what will be better on credit file ?

    Any update on this?
Did you get the original decision to have the default removed in writing? Why did Next originally agree to the write off? What changed?
