working with historic debts on credit file

Hey,

I have viewed my credit file and see that there are a number of aged debts on my credit file which has all been purchased by Lowell, when you click onto the entries within the credit report to see what they are you are just greeted with a balance and an obscured reference number - general the last 4 digits of a 8 digit number.

From looking at these, I am not confident of what these are as I did get myself into a financial mess about 10 years ago and these might relate to those old accounts.

Whats the best way of getting information of what these debts are along with knowing the age etc for statute barred purposed etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
