Re: Letter Before Claim from Control Account

Yes of course you can 500 MYR is vastly different from E500, the VAT Calculation and all other charges are then inaccurate.
Having has experience of FedEx " mistake " I suspect will be suddenly found.

Re: Letter Before Claim from Control Account

I'm confused a bit, is £94 correct, just a typing error for the type of currency. I think you said about £80 at the beginning of this thread.

The vat is applied to the shipping cost and the item value. I pay this but fail to see why vat is payable on the shipping which was bought in another country.

I don't think their admin charges are unreasonable, just expensive. Post office charges £8 (or did). It's claimed there process makes delivery quicker as it clears customs, rather than it hanging around while you pay the duty etc.

I think you have to apply to customs for the vat receipt and there is a time frame ( when I imported a motorcycle 5yrs ago).

In looking over the run down I would say it is correct. Probably things like this that are a reason you are leaving the UK anyway. I think VAT should have a rename as its hardly "value".

I would say pay the bill, it seems in order, just sad that we have to pay like this on something your family? I presume sent you

Re: Letter Before Claim from Control Account

The bill has been calculated on E 500 instead of MYR 500 a considerable difference as Kati's post shows.

Re: Letter Before Claim from Control Account

has it been charged on euros? 500 euros is something like £350 ?

the currency converter now shows 500 myr as £89 at 5.6 (only read it quickly) fedex exchange rate was 5.2 at £95, rates can change daily .

                item 500myr

                shipping 295 myr

                total 795 myr at 5.2 = £152 = vat 20% £32 + admin £10 = .33 stamp etc......

looks in order to me, or may only be out a little, my maths is not to good.

Agreed on Kati's conversion it is using an exchange rate of 5.6

fed ex used an exchange rate of 5.2 as stated on the paperwork, that may have been the exchange rate that day, it changes daily.

Sir, I received reply from Fedex explaining about the error they made last time.
However, I dont quite understand about "Freight charge". Is this frieght charge is necessarily including in the VAT?
They mentioned that they do sent me the "supplementary declaration acceptance advice", is this paper really issued by HM Revenue & Customs?
May I know what should I do now?
                      Thanks.
I attached the photo of the email that Fedex sent to me.[IMG]

                        Hello Isenn,
Yes every thing you have received now would seem to be in accordance
with HMCRC regulations, and the calculations it seems have been corrected.

                            Sorry I'm really confused now.

I see that they printed the currency as euros, but the actual exchange was in MYR was it not?

So what has the amount you need to pay come to?

Apart from estimating the shipping did anything else change.

According to the breakdown, they include the value of the good, freight charge and post-landing fee when calculate the VAT rate.
Then they also included the administration fee of 10.75pounds to the total of VAT.
May I know what you confused of?
