  • Letter from Lowel

Just received a letter from Lowell related to a mobile phone contract I canceled years ago, after a dispute over charges, asking me to confirm my address. The debt is likely to be less than three hundred pounds and this is the first I've heard from them. What power do they have to affect me? If I ignore this letter what is likely to happen?

Great website guys thanks in advance xx

What will happen if I just ignore it without returning letter?

in case it's Statute Barred maybe ... if it's over 6yrs since payment/acknowledgement was last made, it would be un-enforceable anyway :santa_wink:

Lowell clearly is trying to trap you into acknowledging this alleged debt.
To assess what can be done to assist you, it take information such as,

When was the account opened, when was it closed.
Did you receive any demands for payment from the phone service provider?

Many phone account problems arise from stopping payments when there is a dispute and the " client" feels that any debt for outstanding services and/or charges, these then get sold on to debt purchase companies with little information.

I'd (personally) just ignore ANY letter from a DCA until they send a 'letter before action' saying they're taking you to court ... but I'm sure you'll get more advice from the other Beagles
is there any chance you could post up a redacted copy of the letter (so we can see what they're saying)?

its for an account started in the winter of 05 It was ended it a year later. It says they have used a credit agency to find my address and they want me to confirm the information they have is correct. I haven't before received any demands for payment and I have never acknowledged the alleged debt.
