  • Letter from Moorcroft Debt Recovery

My OH has just received a letter from this lot out of the blue regarding an old debt that she had forgotten about and last paid in December 1999 after coming across some old paperwork from the OC.

They reckon that they had previously contacted her regarding the outstanding loan debt (not a large sum) being passed to them, but never had any prior dealings with.

    Should she now :-

    1) Ignore the letter and await further ?

    2) Send a CCA request ?

    or

    3) Send something requesting more detail ?

    Thanks for any assistance.

    Cheers

Sounds as if she is fairly sure it is hers, but from the dates and description you give almost certainly well statute barred?

If so then if any letter is to be sent I would think it would be the one telling them to bog off as it's statute barred.

      Cheers for response Nibbler.

Well we are just putting two and two together about the debt, so not 100% certain as details sent provided no account number but only name of the OC ?

I thought the last payment had to have been 6 years ago if it was to be statute barred - apologise she made a mistake I should of stated we think it was December 2009 !

        Ok. Not 1999 then.

I would say a generic "prove it letter" then, with the CCA or other ones held in reserve if needed.

Don't see a link in the library, but it is basically this one adjusted to suit the circumstances.
