  • Phone call from MKRR/MKDP LLP/RAVEN RECOVERIES/COMPELLO OPERATIONS LIMITED/MKE (UK)

    Evening everyone,

It's been a while since I've been here, roughly 2 years I think, but there has been a new development with my mobile phone number!

To recap, about 4 years ago I took out a mobile phone contract with Orange along with a new phone number. About a year after I took out the contract, around November/December time, I started receiving phone calls from Capquest looking for someone I don't know, and who I suspect probably had the phone number before me. I also discovered that Orange actually use Capquest to recover unpaid depts! Anyway, after being pestered on and off by Capquest for around 2 years, usually at around this time of year, I eventually got rid of them by making a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.

Today, 2 years later, I receive a call from a different collection agency on 0333 344 0286, who are apparently called Raven Recoveries, part of a debt collection company called MKDP LLP...:tinysmile_cry_t:

Since I suspect that this won't be the last I hear from these jokers, as judging by some of the posts on this forum it appears that MKDP/Raven are even more persistant and odeious than Capquest! In an attempt to get rid of them I have this evening written them a letter, only giving them my mobile number, politely asking them to remove it from their database, as I suspect their information is grossly out-of-date, and is therefore in breach of the Data Protection Act!

Lets hope it get's rid of them

In my experience the only way to stop these debt collection jokers phoning you is to complain to the ICO.

    Hi,
The Compello Group/ MKRR/MKDP/Raven CEO Sara Lambert.

I have had some good results by writing to Ms Lambert for people who have had exactly the same problem not only concerning many Mobile service providers, who tend to off load " problem " accounts to anyone foolish enough to buy the.

A Formal Complaint to Ms Lambert at Compello,s head office marked private & confidential is a very effective way of dealing with this and usually much quicker than any of the regulators.
Use signed for post, and check date received.

      Just a quick addition,

Always Demand /Require Action from a DCA " asking Politely" usually gets a standard brush off.
A complaint to a regulator will get better attention if the formal complaint route has been followed.

Thank you for the advice nemesis45

I am very glad to hear that my complaint might actually get acted upon. I had already decided to address it to Sara Lambert.

I posted the letter last night, but if I still get calls I will send a second copy by signed for post, and probably send a complaint to the ICO at the same time!

Once again, thank you for your help and advice.
