  • Prospecting letter from Robinson Way

    Hi

I've had a quick read around the forum and looking for help, my situation is similar to this thread http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...m-Robinson-Way and I'm looking for a little bit of advice

The initial correspondence was "We have been attempting to write to you at the address noted above...." - This is an address I have never lived at so I assumed this to be some sort of scam

I've then received the following letters

"Notice of assignment" letter listing a credit card I have never owned & an account number I'm unfamiliar with
"Helping you to clear your account" letter
    "What can you pay" letter

I was going to telephone RW but googled first and found lots of warnings about them so decided to write to them instead. I sent a prove it letter (it was taken from the internet somewhere but referenced OFT....could it be an outdated template??). I was assuming any reputable organisation would have responded by providing further information but more recently I've received a further letter stating "Your internet based template has no foundation or relevance to the debt you owe".

The "debt I owe" .. I don't owe this debt. I've never lived at the address they say they have been trying to contact me at. So who has provided a new contact address for me?
Why am I unable to send a standard template to resolve this matter? Template or not I'm clearly disputing this debt.
Why would they not respond to this? Do they require me to respond in a particular way?
Is it acceptable practice just to write to someone quoting an account number and demanding money?. And follow it up with further demands
Surely there are data protection issues here, sending out names, addresses and account numbers willy-nilly!!!

What should my next course of action be? Sorry for all the questions but any advice would be appreciated.

    :happy1:

What are they saying the debt is for?

Hope you didn't mind me using your link, I've had a look around here and read some of the posts that are closed.... following advice.... without a conclusion. Hopefully I can continue to provide updates until a conclusion is reached. I hope you have a better response from your letter than I did.

If you do not recognise the debt then write to them with the "prove it" letter, stating quite strongly you think they have mistaken you for someone else. Make it clear that should any claim or mark against your credit file be placed you will take further action against them.

If they are making a claim against you for an AMEX card you must have had an excellent credit record if that's not true and in most cases you needed to be a high earner they are targeting the wrong person?
I would write a prove it letter if you want or ignore until a letter before action or CCJ claim arrives.

Of course I don't mind :XD: you're a bit further on in this than I am (you've had a reply already  even if it wasn't "sorry, we won't bother you again" :sad so I'm quite happy to follow your progress
I do agree with the others on this ... a second prove it letter (maybe mentioning their previous 'stock' reply - if they can do it so can we :wink1 or just ignore until/unless they send a Letter Before Action.

What I can't understand is how can they make such mistakes? Surely the names can be cross-referenced against the electoral roll? Or do they just have someone in a back room who decides "that must be the person ... I'll just ignore the incorrect date of birth/different middle name" etc...

Check credit files to make sure this does not appear.
