  • Cleaning up my credit file by having bad marks set aside

    Hello,

I am in the process of repairing and building up a good history after a few years of poor financial decisions.

I had a ccj and a default. I have managed to get the ccj set aside quite easily because the claimant sent a consent form alongside an n244.

The default I am yet to tackle. Its for £34, issued ny Lowells on an old o2 mobile phone account.

I moved house and needed to change to vodafone from o2 due to signal problems in the new area with o2. Id been with o2 for 5 years, always paid by dd on time. My closing bill was £54, this was my basic tariff and was due under the t and cs having given 30 days notice.

A combination of moving house,so not receiving the bills and to be blunt, laziness on my behalf meant the £54 was not paid. Eventually Lowell contacted me saying I owed £54. i didn't realise I was at default stage and Lowell accepted £20 to close the file.

    2 questions please.

If I had paid £54 instead of £20 at the time of lowell contacting me would this still be a default ?

I ask this because If I was told it would be a 6 year bad mark for paying £20 instead of £54 I would obviously have paid £54. However the Lowell representative seemed sympathetic to my outstanding debt as there were slightly mitigating circumstances, namely moving house and bills going to my old address.

My 2nd question is, Have I got any chance of getting this default removed !

    Thank you.

    Hi giddzo,
With regards wether you paid 20 or 54 it would still be a default on your credit file as it is reflecting your account position.
Have you checked your credit file? To see if the default is a partial payment or is it comeing up as payed?. If not i would check to see if this as happend.
Your chances of getting default removed i would say not very good.
