  • Who owns the debt

    Hi All,
How do I find out who actually owns my debts?
Most if not all are with DCA's. I am not disputing any of the debts and until recently was on DMP with step change.
I require the info as I would like to offer a F+F settlement to the creditors so need to deal directly with the people who actually own the debt ,not just collecting it.

With regards to F+F settlement, funds will come via 3rd party so would I be right in thinking that by dealing with the OC or DCA if they now own debt, that this will avoid the possibility of them taking payment but then passing balance of debt on to another party?

    Thanks

    Re: Who owns the debt

Have you checked your credit reference file? That should show which debts belong to who now.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Thanks Celestine, I thought you had to pay to see your credit files and which one is the best to use?

        Re: Who owns the debt

When a debt is assigned to a new owner, with it go the duties of being Data Controller for the account. The credit files should therefore present the true picture of who is the real owner as only that firm should register the data, but it does take some time occasionally for the records to be updated.

Never trust a DCA when they say they own a debt and always check it. I had an account once where three DCAs all claimed to be the owner yet it never left the original creditor.

Experian seems to be the one of the 3 most used.

You can obtain your credit file from any of them for a statutory fee of £2, even though they try to get you to subscribe for a lot more than that as a monthly sub.
