  • Recorded message from "MMF Doorstep Collections"

    Hi all.

When I switch on my mobile today I find out a message on my Voice machine from someone saying he was from "MMF doorstep collections". It sounded very much like a pre-recorded message rather than someone calling in person.

The message was along the lines of the following:

Hello this is Mike from MMF doorstep collections. I tried to contact you recently but no-one has returned my call. I will therefore be visiting your property soon in person. If you wish to pre-arrange an appointment or discuss your account, please contact our office on (here he left the number) and quote reference (here there was a robotic voice generated reference number)

I've never heard of MMF before and upon Googling them I discovered they are probably debt recovery agency.

The point is, I don't have any debt never had, so I'm confused what this is all about.

Tonight I have done credit check report and all is clear and looks sound.

Please for advice what to do, I'm concerned where they got my number from, and why they call ,
I Appreciate any help and advice.

Re: Recorded message from "MMF Doorstep Collections"

Sometimes phone numbers are recycled by providers. If your number is relatively new to you it may have previously belonged to an MMF customer. It may also be that someone has given a duff number or the caller mis-dialed.

If they call back explain you have no business with them and to remove that number from their records.
Any opinions I give are my own. Any advice I give is without liability. If you are unsure, please seek qualified legal advice.

Send email to Barnaby Page using both of the above (Not sure which he still using) explaining the situation and to remove your details forthwith and cease contacting you and process any data. Also say Teaboy2 on Legal Beagles sends his regards, he knows full well who i am, and he will make sure they not bother you again if he doesn't want me on his back again.

Though sometimes they will wait a year before they try again, so if that happens, just send him a reminder email and threaten him with the ICO for failure to remove your details and to cease processing your data upon your original request.

Advice as per tools and teaboy2.

My landline is a recycled number, and I have had exactly the same problem.

Maybe the OP can tell Mr Page he will be knocking on his door to chase a debt that's not his?
