  • Getting calls and texts from MMF (MotorMile Finance) in error.

    Hi all,
First post here so please bear with me.

I'm getting a lot of calls/texts/voice mails from MMF (1-2 per day) asking me to call to arrange a 'home visit' (from what I've read, their standard message). Thing is I've NEVER had any debt (never had any loan/Finance etc at all). What's more a few of the messages have referred to a Ms Niall Armstrong, which is not me nor do I know anyone by that name.

Any advice? I don't really want to contact them but realise that it may be necessary.

    Thanks.

They are unlikely to stop of their own accord, so you are going to have to deal with this.

Contact them, pointing out their obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998. You are receiving confidential correspondence intended for a third party. That person is not to be found on that number and is entirely unknown to you. Their database is therefore incorrect. They must correct it immediately and cease sending this correspondence.

You could telephone (unlikely to be successful, as this will simply confirm that the number is live and creates no written record), or you could write. When writing, do not use your normal signature.

My only other thought is to get my mobile number changed. I've been thinking about doing it for a while now as I also get occasional messages for PPI or injury compensation claim etc. Come to think of it, some of these have also mentioned 'Niall' or 'Ms Armstrong'.

Wasn't Niall (neil) Armstrong the first person to walk on the moon? Somebody taking a loan out, giving false details?
