Hi all, in need of some advice here as im running out of idea! Lowell are quickly becoming the most impossible to deal with company ive ever come across! I'll start from the top...
In August 2013 i paid an outstanding debt of £119 to Vodafone. In September 2013 i recieved a letter from Lowell Financial saying that they had bought my 'outstanding' debt of £119 from Vodafone. I rang Lowell to explain that i had already paid it to Vodafone and they said it would be sorted within a week. In the weeks after this i continued to recieve letters from Lowell regarding this £119 i apparently owed. I rang them again and they asked if i would send them a bank statement to prove that i had paid the debt to Vodafone prior to Vodafone selling them the account. Shortly after this i contacted them again (October) and they said the account is on hold while they dispute with Vodafone and would be sorted within 30 days. Basically since then i have been calling Lowell on a weekly basis and keep getting told that it is being disputed.
I rang Vodafone and the girl i spoke to rang Lowell to explain that i had already paid the debt to Vodafone. So now Lowell have proof from me and a phone call from someone at Vodafone to say it was wrongfully sold and still they will not close my account. On the 2nd of Feb i spoke to a guy at Lowells who told me that it had all been sorted, the account has been closed and sorry for the inconvinience. He also said that it would be updated with the credit reference companies within 30 days. Today i rang Lowells as this is still on my credit file as outstanding, the girl i spoke to claims that the account was never closed and it is still being disputed!
I've been extremely patient over the past 6 months while trying to get this sorted however my current mortgage deal has just expired and as of 1st March my monthly mortgage payment has gone up by just over £70. I have not been able to remortgage my house due to this 'debt' as the rest of my credit rating is perfect. So this is now costing me £70 a month just because two useless companies cant sort this out and im innocently caught in the crossfire.
Any advice? I need this sorted quickly as possible. Im tempted to go see a solicitor but thats just even more money its going to cost me. Surely they are somehow breaking the law here..
Thanks!
