Cabot and CCA Proof

I have been on a DMP for quite some time and one of the collection agencies is Cabot. I have been paying without fail, I have even offered a pence in pound settlement which was rebuffed. Having found this excellent forum I have one pertinent question....
If I send a request to them for a copy of my original CCA and they fail to do so within the stipulated time frame as laid out elsewhere on this site, etc etc: Am I legally able to cease paying them? What things should be born in mind when proceeding down this route?
