  • Lowell (LOW LIFE) / Red debt collection agency ?

Hi I'm new here and was hoping for some much needed help with the above people.
They are requesting payment for a loan that may be very close to being statute barred (i've heard this is their time for striking) I havent made any payment or had any contact with the company I took out an unsecured loan with for approximately six years (I cant be 100% sure on the exact date contact ceased) the loan was for around a £1000. according to a credit report the loan didnt default until 2009 but im pretty sure I stopped paying way before then, didnt phone them or have any contact with them since.
I have just recieved a letter from Lowells saying if I dont reply to them they are going to pass on my debt to their red debt collections people and will commence with litigation.
So what to do next? I also have other outstanding debts but have heard no word from them for a while so I would like to try and avoid opening a can of worms.
Any Help would be gratefully recieved,
    Thank you in advance

Personally I would ignore them for the time being. It will get you nearer to the Statute Barred date. Don't worry about Red Debt. They are just Bowells under a different name. Same Sh!t different notepaper

I agree with ^^^^^ post! I had a letter from Lowell's and I just ignored it! and then about 3 weeks later I got a letter from Red debt so I just sent them a template letter (un-signed) for it being statute barred which I knew it was for certain,,, I got a letter back from them a couple of weeks later saying they were closing the debt and we owed £0.00,

If you can I'd hang on in there for as long as you can until your sure it's statute barred x

Over the course of 3 years we got 30 letters from lowells and their office buddies making all sorts of offers and threats yet nothing for over 2 months now and still nearly a year away from SB

Another brand name of the Bowells group is Hamptons Legal.

Not only does that seem to suggest that their other departments are somehow not legal, but it makes one wonder if they've ever heard of rhyming slang (link).
