I take it you signed up for an account with the tracking service, which would give you 10 free messages to send. I'm asking because if you just append .didtheyreadit.com without creating an account, the email will not reach the recipient. However, if you did create an account, you should be able to see when they open it tomorrow morning.

also the attached letter indicates this is a full and final settlement surely this can be used as my defense?

Make sure you keep the letter together with their letter where they say they would accept that amount in F&F, it's important to establish that they'd agreed to the settlement. Normally you'd wait for a reply to YOUR letter but there was no time in this case.

I made the payment a few hours ago as I was unsure if I would get a response in time, I made an account and after the payment the balance on the account was zero and stated it was settled. I should receive written confirmation of this?
