    Hi,

This has been posted in the wrong forum. I will bump this for Site Team to transfer it to the correct forum.

However, if you have never had any accounts or dealings with RBS, it is probable you are the victim of an insidious practice amongst debt collection agencies called Scattergunning, where they send out threatening letters to everyone with the same surname in the hope one the people they have threatened is either the actual debtor or will be frightened enough to pay, even though they owe no money. It is a practice that breaches OFT Debt Collection Guidelines and can, in certain circumstances, be illegal.

    BUMP

Wescot are fond of churning out generic template letters headed FINAL DEMAND. I've got quite a few myself. They are debt collectors who often act for RBS. If you don't remember having anything to do with RBS, you could ignore this initial letter and wait to see if they send something else. If they do, post up and you can then fire the prove-it letter at them. :thumb:

WorstClots are not usually known to be polite - they're rude and arrogant with everyone.

Did you ever have an account, loan or credit card from RBS, NatWest or Mint?

If you didn't, report them to Trading Standards via Consumer Direct - 0845 4 04 05 06 - as that letter looks a lot like an attempt at blackmail.
