  • DCA's Ignoring Change Of Address

    Good day all

I have a lot of debts (small and large) and had been paying them off via Payplan until I moved to SE Asia and completely cut my ties with the UK. I informed Payplan that I was moving and cutting all my ties with the UK (house sold, bank account closed, no family left in UK) and sent emails to all the grubby DCA's chasing for money that I have changed my address. They were all told that they would not get any more money from me as I would be needing it where I was emigrating to

Not one of them changed my address and continue to send threat-o-grams to my old address. Fortunately they have been scanned and sent to me by email by the new owner on my instructions. I have now instructed the new owner to either throw them away or mark as "not here ... try SE Asia" and return

One of the DCA's has now purchased one of my Debts and now threatening to get a CCJ by default (we all know who the silly solicitor is), however I do know that I will get this set aside should they succeed as they have ignored my new address and I have advised them that should they issue a Claim then I will have it transferred to my local court in SE Asia (who by the way have no clue about English Law and would summerarily dismiss the claim).

This particular DCA write's to my email address and tell me in the same email that they are unable to write to me at my new address due to DPA rules. If this is correct then why are they sending mail to my old address, they have been informed of the change of address, surely this is a breach of the DPA, sending demands to an unknown occupier.

How do I stop these idiots from sending mail to my old address because I do not want a CCJ on my CR file and I do not want all Tom Dick and Harry's knowing about my business.

If you don't own property in the UK, you really have nothing to worry about, especially in SE Asia, which is well outside the EU. There is no way a claim could be transferred to a local court anywhere in SE Asia, or anywhere else outside the UK for that matter. You say you cut all ties with the UK, yet you are concerned with your CRA file in the UK, are you planning on returning soon?

    Sorry for the late response.

      Hi FlamingParrot

Sorry it has taken six months to get back to youbut we have horrendous problems where I now live in the Provinces with getting internet connected. Too expensive to use mobile internet for more than a few minutes.

No intentions of ever returning to the UK as I married a local girl. I was just worried about my credit file should I ever need any sort of credit where I am, however this worry has been unfounded and they do not wish to see any rferences from the UK only local.
